LOCAL TALENT NATIONALLY RECOGNISED
Celebrating
the young talent in today’s construction industry, the National Construction College (Midlands) held is annual Awards event at Birmingham University last month. As one of the leading building materials suppliers, Birmingham based Selco was more than happy to give its support
by sponsoring the Apprentice of the Year category.
Every year the
Awards recognise the achievements of the students at the NCC, and bring to the attention of the industry the talent that is
being nurtured. This year the Apprentice of the Year award went to Wayne Carter
from Treforest Tiling Ltd, Bridgend, and there to present the award was comedian and ex-East Enders actor Shaun Williamson.
Nigel
Croll, Commercial Manager, Selco, was there to congratulate Wayne and wish him every success in his career. “Wayne is a highly motivated
and enthusiastic young man who will be an asset to the industry and his employer. At
Selco we feel that it is important to do all that we can to encourage and support the young talent coming in to the construction
industry,” said Nigel.
Wayne
made exceptional progress throughout the course, and this was commented on by the NCC when asked why he had been chosen to
receive the award. Wayne’s course tutor said, “Wayne is an outstanding trainee
and has always shown a keenness to learn and has taken an active interest in all that he has done at the college, attaining
a high average throughout. He will do well in his chosen career as he has the positive attitude and approach the industry
is looking for, constantly ensuring high standards are met.”
